Seasonal Variations
Typical wet season male.
|
The sex mark is large.
Upper side forewing: The black band on the
termen reaches the tornus, and is continued
along the entire length of the lower margin as a very fine black line.
Upper side hind wing: The black band on the termen is narrow and
continues to the anal margin. Usually there is a black spot towards
the distal end of the cell, and similar ones at the end of the
veins, though they are sometimes absent.
|
Typical wet season female.
|
Upper side forewing: The black band on the
termen is much broader and varies little in width from vein 4 to the tornus.
It then runs a
short distance along the lower margin.
Upper side hind wing: The black band on the termen is very broad
at the apex and narrows gradually to the tornus. |
Typical dry season male.
|
The sex mark is smaller.
Upper side forewing: The black band on the
termen is
narrowed down at vein 1. It lacks the fine black line on the lower margin.
Upper side hind wing: Narrow black band along the
termen. The middle of termen to the anal angle is straight.
Under side forewing: A linear black mark in the cell.
Under side hind wing: A spot in the basal half of interspace 7
and three other small spots near the cell.
|
Typical dry season female.
|
Upper side forewing: The black marginal band of the forewing below vein 2 is continued to
the tornus as a fine line.
Upper side hind wing: The black band is broad at the apex and
narrows down abruptly in interspace 5, and is then continued as a very narrow band to
the tornus. |
